Regional Funding Boost Supports Growth and Liveability in the Murray

Three transformative projects in the Murray region have received major support under the NSW Government’s Strategic Capital Projects (SCP) Early Investment Round, unlocking more than $5.8 million in funding to enhance local infrastructure, tourism, and community amenities.

Upgrades to Bullanginya Precinct in Barooga

Barooga Sports Club has secured $4 million to revitalise the Bullanginya Precinct — a project supported by Regional Development Australia Murray. The investment will fund the relocation of the current works compound and support the construction of new group accommodation, aimed at enhancing Barooga’s appeal as a tourism destination. This project is set to improve visitor experiences and create flow-on benefits for the local economy.

Revitalising Moama’s CBD

Murray River Council has been awarded $1,078,164 to redevelop sites in the Moama CBD. The project focuses on improving accessibility and infrastructure to attract new businesses and support future growth. By creating more inviting and functional commercial spaces, the redevelopment aims to strengthen the economic potential of the township and provide long-term benefits for both residents and visitors.

Heritage and Cultural Trail in Balranald

Balranald Shire Council has received $731,331 to activate a regional Heritage and Cultural Trail, incorporating modern signage and audio-visual experiences. The project will also fund upgrades to the Lake Benanee campground, improving the amenity and appeal of this popular regional site. These initiatives aim to showcase the region’s unique cultural heritage while boosting visitor engagement and local tourism.

Enabling Regional Development

These projects form part of a broader investment in infrastructure across regional NSW, designed to create jobs, stimulate local economies, and improve community liveability. RDA Murray continues to work with local governments, businesses, and community organisations to support funding submissions that drive positive outcomes across the region.
