BBRF

The $841.6 million Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF) supports the Australian Government’s commitment to create jobs, drive economic growth and build stronger regional communities into the future.

The fund invests in projects located in, or benefiting eligible areas outside the major capital cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, and Canberra.

 


 

DROUGHT COMMUNITIES PROGRAMME

On 7 November 2019, the Australian Government announced a further range of drought measures, including that it would provide $128 million under the Drought Communities Programme Extension to 128 councils, 122 of which had previously received funding and an additional six councils experiencing hardship due to drought. The 128 eligible councils will each be provided $1 million to complete local infrastructure and other drought-relief projects. This brings the commitment under the Drought Communities Programme Extension to $301 million since 2018-19.

THE MURRAY-DARLING BASIN REGIONAL ECONOMIC DIVERSIFICATION PROGRAM

The Murray-Darling Basin Regional Economic Diversification Program (MDBREDP) has committed $72.65 million to assist Basin communities increase economic diversification and adjust to a water constrained environment.

Each of the Basin States of New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland selects projects within their jurisdictions in consultation with the Minister for Regional Development.

Information about applying for funding is available from the participating Basin States.

The funding allocation for each Basin State is (GST Exclusive):

  • Queensland: $15.055 million
  • New South Wales: $32.573 million
  • Victoria: $25.028 million
