Biography:

Mary Hoodless is a dedicated rural enthusiast with a lifelong connection to the heart of Australia. Her professional trajectory spans from nursing to organizational development consulting, showcasing her adaptability and commitment to making a positive impact. Mary has held key roles in health service management, tertiary education, academic research, and has been recognized as a former fellow with the University of Melbourne and an Honorary Associate with La Trobe University.

In addition to her academic achievements, Mary has delved into various sectors, managing community services, a Registered Training Organization (RTO) and establishing her own consultancy. Her consultancy work primarily focuses on collaborating with not-for-profits, local government, and businesses, contributing her expertise to foster growth and development in rural communities. Mary also coordinates the Fischer Community Leadership Program.

Mary’s community contributions have earned her accolades such as, NSW Emergency Services Award, the Snowy Valleys Citizen of the Year Achievement Award, the NSW Government Appreciation Award, the 2020 NSW Premier’s Community Service Award, and the 2020/2021 NSW Department of Primary Industries award. These honours acknowledge her outstanding service to the community, especially in support of small rural communities, as well as her significant role in the recovery of bushfire-impacted rural communities.

Her hands-on involvement in the local agricultural landscape exemplifies her deep-rooted commitment to the well-being and prosperity of rural life.
