Kylie King Commences Role as Chair of RDA Murray

Kylie King has officially commenced her role as Chair of Regional Development Australia Murray (RDA Murray) today, bringing with her a strong track record in civic leadership, strategic advocacy, and a deep passion for regional communities.

With a strong connection to the region and years of experience in local government and national policy spaces, Kylie steps into the position ready to build on the momentum of RDA Murray’s work in driving economic growth, innovation and opportunity across the region.

“It’s an exciting time for our region, and I’m incredibly honoured to help continue the important work already underway,” Kylie said. “From agriculture and advanced manufacturing to renewable energy and small business, the Murray region is filled with potential—and I’m passionate about helping that potential flourish.”

Kylie previously served as Mayor of Albury City Council and most recently completed her term as Chair of Regional Capitals Australia, where she led an alliance of 20 member cities advocating for stronger investment in regional Australia. She has also held the position of Deputy Chair with the Riverina and Murray Joint Organisation (RAMJO).

“Through strong partnerships and bold thinking, I believe we can attract investment, unlock opportunities, and ensure no one is left behind,” Kylie said. “RDA Murray plays a unique role in connecting people, building relationships, and making sure our region’s voice is heard where it counts.”

Kylie also acknowledged the contribution of outgoing Chair Mary Hoodless, who served in the role for the past six years.

“Mary has helped shape RDA Murray into the trusted, influential organisation it is today. Her dedication and deep knowledge of our region have made a lasting impact. I’m grateful she’ll be supporting my transition into the role, and I know I’ll be drawing on her insights as we move forward.”

Looking ahead, Kylie is focused on strengthening collaboration across government, industry and community to drive outcomes that reflect local strengths and aspirations.

“Our region has the foundations of something remarkable. I look forward to listening, learning and working alongside people who care deeply about this place—because I do too.”
